The main reasons for rainwater leakage in aluminum doors and windows can be roughly divided into four categories

1: During the design process, there were defects in the structure of the doors and windows themselves, two were caused by the failure to meet quality requirements during processing and installation, three were caused by discrepancies in materials and accessories, and four were caused by improper sealing treatment of the connection part with the opening wall.
Among these four categories, leakage caused by one or four items is more harmful and difficult to handle. In addition, there are also building structures with inherent defects that cause rainwater leakage at the connection between doors and windows and the opening wall, but this is not a leakage problem for doors and windows.
A. The waterproof structure design of aluminum doors and windows is unfair, the waterproof sealing level is not enough, and the drainage channel inside the aluminum door and window structure is not formed. When rainwater easily enters the aluminum door and window cavity under the influence of indoor and outdoor wind pressure difference, the rainwater entering the aluminum door and window cavity cannot be smoothly discharged outdoors through the aluminum door and window drainage system, resulting in water accumulation and leakage inside the doors and windows.
B. The structural strength and stiffness of aluminum doors and windows fail to meet the requirements for wind pressure resistance in the location where they are used, resulting in severe plastic deformation, cracking or damage to the load-bearing bars, hardware accessories, seals, and bonding materials of aluminum doors and windows under normal wind loads, resulting in the failure of the door and window body seal and rainwater leakage. The reason is that the product failed to accurately calculate and design its strength according to specifications, and did not pass the physical function test of wind resistance before production and installation
C. In the process of architectural design, improper selection of aluminum alloy doors and windows is also one of the reasons for rainwater leakage in doors and windows. The most common method is to use ordinary sliding door aluminum doors and windows for the exterior facade of high-rise buildings or areas with high rainfall, without taking necessary waterproof measures on the structure of the aluminum doors and windows or the building structure.
D. When aluminum doors and windows are installed on site, the assembly size control is not good, resulting in misaligned or insufficient overlapping sealing positions, or gaps due to sufficient pressure. The fastening screws used to fix the door and window frames are not sealed with sealant, and the surface of the sealing parts is not cleaned when sealed with sealant.
E. The sealing materials used for aluminum doors and windows are too poor, such as the rubber strip is too hard, the anti-aging time is short, the sealant is outdated or fake, the anti displacement ability is poor, and it is easy to crack.
F. The processing and manufacturing accuracy of aluminum doors and windows cannot meet the quality requirements, and the matching gap is too large. The parts that need to be assembled after bonding are not coated with sealing materials and are directly assembled, causing rainwater to easily penetrate the doors and windows and the main structure through various assembly gaps.
